For Jews and non-Jews alike.  Come learn about Judaism in an enlightening and fun environment as we explore a survey of all of our tradition, beliefs, and practices from the beginning of Creation all the way through the 21st century.  By the time you are done with this series of classes, you will know more than many first year Rabbinic students; and these classes can be used towards the conversion process and the Beit Din.

Bar/Bat Mitzvah Preparation Class @ Center for Spiritual Living, Downstairs Classroom

Friday Night Shabbat @ TNS Sanctuary

Come join the TNS community as we gather together in our sanctuary to celebrate Shabbat.  With the wisdom of our Rabbi, the joyous music of Cantorial Soloist and song leader Benny Lipson, the amazing music of Mat Gurman, the passionate percussion and humor of David Zasloff, and the wisdom of our tradition, these services always bring renewal and rest from the challenges of the week as we welcome the Sabbath Queen into our lives.

Hamantaschen Hurl @ Triunfo Community Park

It’s time for our annual Hamantaschen Hurl fundraiser! With this event we grid off a baseball field and sell squares on the grid. Then we hurl hamantaschen cookies in the air via a giant sling shot at home plate. Whoever’s square the cookie lands in, that person gets a prize. You do NOT need to be present to win, but we will have a little celebration after the Hamantaschen Hurl is over.

Tickets are $20/square, or 6 squares for $100. 

Fabulous Prizes Including: a Vegas getaway (a 2 night hotel stay), a piece of art by famous Jewish artist Saul Rabino (valued at over $1000), tickets to shows, gift cards to local eateries, and more.

Saturday Shabbat Service and Pot Luck Brunch

Come join the TNS community this Saturday at Rabbi Barclay’s home for a very special teaching Shabbat, followed by a potluck brunch.  This is a special opportunity to learn what the prayers mean at deeper levels, as well as how to observe them in traditional ways. If you have ever had a question about what to do in a Shabbat service or why something is done, this is the time to come learn and explore a deeper relationship with the Sabbath.
 
Services and teaching will begin at 9:30 a.m., and will be followed by a potluck brunch.  Please bring a dairy/pareve dish to share with the community

“Broken: A Holocaust History in Fused Glass” by Frances Elson – Art Exhibit @ Ventura County Museum

The Ventura County Museum is hosting a new exhibit by Frances Elson entitled “Broken: A Holocaust History in Fused Glass.” The exhibit consists of six beautiful glass panels, as well as a book of poetry by Frances Elson’s sister, a memoir to her great-uncle, a compilation of Cantorial and Yiddish music, and more. There will also be a panel discussion from 2:00pm to 4:00pm featuring women’s stories from the Holocaust. The panel includes Celina Biniaz, Inga Boldt, Lee Edwards, and Frances Elson. We hope to see you there.
